Port Elizabeth Police are investigating another deadly shooting in the city's northern areas.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says that shortly after 8 pm, police accompanied the aunt of a deceased man to an open field between Japhta Cresent and Harrington Street in Salt Lake.
She says that on arrival on the scene they found the body of 22-year-old Mathew Prince of Clearly Estate. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Colonel Naidu says no belongings were taken from him and he did not have any known gang affiliation.
A murder docket has been opened.
The latest incident brings the death toll to at least nine in what appears to be a series of killings in Port Elizabeth's northern areas over the past two weeks.
