Workers building temporary control panel for pump at Van Riebeeck reservoir
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's technical teams in collaboration with a contractor are currently building a temporary control panel at the pump station of the Van Riebeeck reservoir. Vandals caused a fire while stealing cables and damaging electrical panels at the pump station on Friday resulting in several suburbs not having water over the weekend.
We envisage that the work will be completed by tomorrow afternoon. Once the electricity is back on the damage to the motors and pump will be assessed.
In an attempt to ease the inconvenience to the residents of Winterhoek Park, Fairbridge Heights, Vanes Estate, Strelitzia Park and surrounding areas, we installed communal taps at the entrances of the two schools in Daniel Pienaar Drive.
A tanker is also placed at the corner of Van Riebeeck and Errol Drive.
A docket has been opened with the South African Police Services and residents are requested to assist the police if they have any information that can lead to the arrest of the culprits.
