Even though the rain and water levels subsided last night some of the areas within the Eden DM area
did get some light rain throughout the night and this morning it is still very cold and wet.
Situation Report regarding the severe weather and flooding event within the Eden DM area on the
2nd of September 2015 at 08:00
Bitou: Officials from Bitou Municipality are still busy with inspections, at this stage
" The two residents (1 male adult and 1 female adult) that were evacuated from a house in
Piesang Valley yesterday are still with family members but will return to their own house today
" The tree that has fallen over the N2 at The Garden of Eden in Plettenberg Bay was cleared by
SANRAL agents
Knysna: No new incidents, evacuations or road closures were reported
" The gravel road between Rheenendal and Karatara has been opened.
" The gravel road between Rheenendal and Goudveldt has been opened.
" The road to Buffels Bay has been reopened and both lanes are in use.
" The road to Karatara at the Karawater bridge is closed.
" Homtini Pass has been damaged due to flooding and is still closed
" Pantom Pass and Bibby's Hoek road is still closed due to flooding.
" The road to Gouna is still closed due to flooding.
George: No new incidents or road closures were reported.
" Low water bridge at Haarlem is still closed due to flooding
" Low water bridge at Bo-Kouga is still closed due to flooding
" The farm of Mr W Dyesel in the Kamanassie are still cut-off, but the water level are busy dropping
and a friend of Mr Deysel will bring the critical medication for his mother to the farm.
" A report was received by George Municipality that 29 people (12 adults, 10 children and 7 babies)
from the Ysterfontein area were evacuated last night, they are now at the community hall in
Pacaltsdorp. Disaster relief in the form of mattresses, blankets and food parcels were supplied
by George Municipality.
