Water supply to Uitenhage suburbs affected due to the vandalism at the pump station located close to the Van Riebeeck reservoir on Friday could be restored by tonight. This great news comes after Vanes Estate, Fairbridge Heights, Scheepershoogte, Winterhoek Park, Strelitzia Park and surrounding areas were without water since early Saturday after electrical panels and cabling were damaged resulting in a fire at the pump station.
A temporary control panel was finished earlier this afternoon resulting in the pump working again. We expect that the Fairbridge Reservoir fill take a few days to fill up and request residents to conserve water as soon as supply is restored.
