Nelson Mandela Bay’s main catchment area in the Langkloof received some welcome rain at the weekend with between 6 and 23 millimeters recorded.
Kareedouw measured 22.8 mm, Patensie 15, and Joubertina 6 mm.
Weather Office spokesperson Garth Sampson warned, however, that the rain would make no difference to the dire water crisis the area finds itself in as the Metro’s main supply dams teeter at less than 12% of total combined capacity.
Up until 8 am on Sunday, 17.8 mm was measured at the airport and 24.4 mm at St Albans in Gqeberha.
Cape St Francis received 19.4 mm and Port Alfred 6.4 mm.
