Knysna Municipality’s water restrictions still in place

Statement released by Knysna Municipality:
Only a week into the holiday season and Knysna’s demand for water has increased significantly. Although the town is not facing a crises at this stage, if water usage is not mitigated the town could face a problem. The municipality urges residents and seasonal visitors to use water sparingly and responsibly especially during the warm summer season.
The municipality’s water restrictions are still in place. Grant Easton, Knysna acting municipal manager said “the municipality has stepped up its enforcement measures and individuals found to be using water outside the parameters of the restrictions can face fines of up to R1000-00 per incident or even jail time of up to three months. We will have zero tolerance for individuals who do not adhere to the water restrictions.”
Water restrictions are as follows:
Even street numbers can water gardens or wash cars (with hose) between 18:00 and 19:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Odd street numbers can water gardens or wash cars (with hose) between 18:00 and 19:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. No watering is permitted on a Sundays.
