Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet is holding a two-day lekgotla of her executive council.
Speaking at the opening of the lekgotla in East London, Kiviet called for the review of the Fiscal and Finance Commission formula used for allocating budgets to provinces.
She also urged the provincial leadership to use of the meager resources at its disposal prudently.
Meanwhile, the premier's annual pre-State of the Province Address is expected to take stock of progress made in executing the provincial government's 2012-13 financial-year Programme of Action.
The premier is also expected to outline her government's plans for the 2013-14 financial-year.
