A young Kirkwood man with a "prediliction for violence" has been sentenced to six life terms and between one month and 15 years in jail.
Grahamstown High Court judge, Clive Plaskett, imposed the heavy sentence on 24-year-old Morne Daries on Friday.
Plaskett earlier convicted Daries on three counts of murder, four counts of rape, one count of attempted rape and one count of attempting to commit a sexual act with a corpse
He was also convicted for theft and defeating the ends of justice.
Daries' crime spree began in May 2007 when he was just 16-years old and came to an end in 2013 at the age of 23 when he was arrested.
In his seven page sentencing judgement, justice Plaskett said "the seriousness of the offences, the number of offences committed and the accused's predilection for extreme violence all make the interests of society a particularly important factor in the sentencing process in this case."
Plaskett said its "clear that the Daries is a very serious danger to society in general, and to woman in particular."
