Four minor children who allegedly sneaked into a hangar at the Plettenberg Airport could be prosecuted for crashing a small plane into the hangar door.
Damage to the plane and the hangar could run into hundreds of thousands of rand.
Police spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie says the children allegedly found the key of the airplane under the mat in the cockpit.
The children, aged between 7 and 11, managed to start the engine and applied full throttle.
A case of burglary and malicious damage to property was opened by Plettenberg Bay police.
Pojie says the children were released into the care of their parents.
In the meantime, the airplane will be transported to George on Monday for a damage assessment.
