Kidnapped PE baby reunited with mother

Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of kidnapping and using a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, after a baby who was reported missing on Thursday, was found and reunited with her mother.

Spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg says the 10-month-old infant lives with her mother and grandmother in Sidwell and was last seen with her uncle, 27-year old Clayton Allison, who was with the child standing in front of the house in the street.

She says the grandmother later noticed that their vehicle, a grey Nissan Micra, was no longer parked in the street and that Clayton and the baby were nowhere to be seen.

After the report of the missing child was circulated on Friday, various police and emergency services - including the Metro Search and Rescue Service- were roped in to assist in tracing her.

Janse van Rensburg says according to police information, Clayton dropped off the child on Thursday evening at the biological father in Gelvandale.

She says the child is now reunited with the mother and the search for Clayton and the Nissan Micra is continuing.
