A key witness in the murder trial against an alleged member of the New Kids gang took the stand in the Gqeberha High Court on Monday.
Claudio Calvert, 22, is accused of killing Cameron Rayston Daniels in Baatjies Street in Helenvale on 15 July 2022.
The murder happened near the Helenvale Resource Centre.
The 17-year-old woman who is eight months pregnant cannot be named to protect her identity.
She is believed to be the only eyewitness to the murder and had previously survived an attempt on her life.
On the evening before she was first set to testify on 16 April, a triple murder rocked her family after a gunman opened fire at their home in Pienaar Street, in Helenvale.
Her mother, Ellen Hutchinson, 50, her three-year-old nephew Emilio Hutchinson, and a family friend, Claudeo Thomas, 44, were gunned down and died at the scene.
Ellen's 13-year-old daughter and her 19-year-old son were wounded in the foot and shoulder and admitted to a hospital.
It is believed that the gunmen intended to shoot the woman, in a bid to stop her from testifying in court.
On the day of the shooting, out of fear for her safety, she decided to spend the night at a friend's house.
Before the witness' testimony on Monday, Judge Hannelie Bakker ordered that her name not be made public and that she could testify in-camera.
