A Bedford man has appeared in court on a charge of attempted murder after a teenage boy was wounded after allegedly picking pecan nuts on his property.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the incident happened on 14 June when four boys allegedly entered a property on Hope Street and began picking nuts.
She said they allegedly heard shots and fled.
Naidu said three of boys later realised that the 14-year-old was not with them.
She said the teen was wounded in the head and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The homeowner, Vuyo Kona, was arrested and appeared in court on Friday.
Naidu said he was released on bail of R3 300, and will be back in court again on 22 July.
