The suspect arrested in connection with the murder of PE mother Kelly Bain has been linked to a third murder in the city.
These details came out in court on Thursday where the 27-year-old Sizwe Jika was appearing on one of the murder charges.
Jika, who is referred to by police as a habitual criminal, was already behind bars for several cases of housebreaking, when DNA connected him to Bain's murder.
The 26-year-old Kelly Bain was murdered in her townhouse in Brymore in July last year, whilst her one-month-old baby was sleeping.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said Jika's DNA also linked him to the 86-year-old Ann Smith's murder in May last year in Kamma Park.
The 86-year-old Ann Smit was brutally assaulted in her home and later died in hospital.
During Thursday's court appearance police made yet another breakthrough and linked Jika's DNA to the murder of 83-year-old Ann Ferreira of Summerstrand.
Her body was found in her house in Kuruman Kloof in May last year.
Naidu said Jika has already been found guilty of 12 other cases of housebreaking and theft committed since 2007.
