Central Karoo police arrested a passenger on a Cape-Town-bound bus for being in possession of a large quantity of Tik with a street value of R2.2 million.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said the 37-year-old was arrested by members of the K9 unit at a vehicle checkpoint on the N1 at Beaufort West.
He said a search of the luggage compartment of the bus led to the discovery of the Tik in a suitcase.
Pojie said a male passenger, who was travelling from Durban to Cape Town, will appear in court in Beaufort West on Friday on a charge of dealing in drugs.
He said Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Thembisile Patekile, commended the members and also reaffirmed the commitment of the police to continue with the strategic deployments as part of the Safer Festive Season operations.
