A 19-year-old Kariega man is behind bars after a stolen police firearm was found in a raid on his Kwanobhule home on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the arrest was made by members of the District Crime Combatting Unit who were acting on a tip-off.
A 9mm pistol, three rounds of ammunition and used projectiles were found in the bedroom of the house on Ceshu Street.
Naidu says the firearm was reported stolen in December following a break-in at the home of a SAPS member in Kwanobuhle.
A police radio and other property belonging to the policeman were also recovered.
The teenager was detained on several charges and is due to appear in court on Thursday.
Naidu says any links to the house-breaking could also lead to additional charges being added.
