Police are searching for two men who broke into a house in Hex River Road in Kariega, assaulted a man, and stole jewellery worth around R150 000.
SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the complainant, the man’s wife, woke up to a loud bang that sounded like glass breaking early on Thursday morning.
“Gunshots were also heard through the sliding door of the bedroom,” Naidu said.
She said two men, who were armed, entered the bedroom and assaulted the complainant’s husband.
Naidu said they took three cell phones, bank cards, identity documents, two laptop computers, and jewellery.
She said the husband was taken to a hospital for treatment following the attack which she said occurred outside of load shedding.
Naidu said police are investigating a case of house robbery.
