A Kariega schoolboy has died after being stabbed while walking to school with friends.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, identified the 15-year-old deceased as Ferguson Volminck.
She said the teenager was approached by a group and was stabbed in the chest while on his way to school on Wednesday morning.
Swart said his father, who rushed to the scene in McCarthy Street close to the school, immediately took the boy to hospital where he passed away.
“The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage. A case of murder is being investigated by SAPS Kamesh Detectives,” she said at the time.
Captain Swart has since confirmed the arrest of two young men in connection with Volminck's murder.
She says SAPS Kamesh detectives worked around the clock to trace the suspects and that shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, a 16 year-old youth and a 21 year-old man were arrested at their respective residences.
They are expected to appear in the Kariega magistrate’s court on Friday 2 September 2022 on a charge of murder.
