A Sergeant attached to the Kamesh police station in Kariega has been arrested and charged with the 2022 murder of Raul Damons.
Thirty-one-year-old Damons was shot and killed at his house in Strelitzia Park in December that year.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Sergeant Rudy Arends is the third suspect to be arrested in connection with the murder.
The victim, Damons, was arrested with four other suspects in February 2020 when they were found in possession of alleged stolen VW Polo car parts worth over a million Rand.
Damons was granted bail of R10 000.
Naidu says in January this year 41-year-old Clinton Minnies was the first to be arrested for Damons' murder while a second suspect, Deilon Makoppa was arrested in September.
All three accused appeared in the Kariega Magistrates Court on Tuesday where the matter was postponed to the 14th of November for a former bail application.
The arrests were made by the Anti-Gang Unit in Gqeberha.
