A 24-year-old suspected robber is in police custody following an armed robbery at a supermarket in Kariega on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says five suspects, two of them armed, entered a supermarket in Durban street shortly after 7 pm.
She says they threatened staff with the firearms before demanding cash.
The suspects also took groceries, cellphones and a laptop.
Captain Swart says Private security officials and Uitenhage K9 arrived on the scene and manage to apprehend a one suspect with the assistance of K9 officer Razor.
She says several stolen items were found in his possession.
The search for the remaining four suspects will continue on Monday and more arrests are imminent.
The suspect will make his first court appearance on a charge of armed robbery on Wednesday.
