Eastern Cape K9 officer Bayley who is just one year old, netted his greatest success during a drug bust in Makhanda on Wednesday
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says a very enthusiastic K9 Bayley and his handler, Sergeant Stembele Gqomo were part of a team which executed a warrant of arrest in Joza.
She says Bayley led the team to a consignment of drugs including Mandrax, Tik, and crack cocaine, all with a street value of approximately R300 000.
The Acting District Commissioner for the Sarah Baartman District Brigadier John Lebok says their four-legged partners constantly prove to be one of our most valuable resources during operations.
He says Bayley and all his K9 colleagues have been loyal and faithful in the execution of their duties and each of them needs a special commendation.
