Police said excellent teamwork led to the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect who was found in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said members of the Kariega SAPS K9 unit responded to a tracker activation in Kwazakele, Gqeberha on Sunday.
She said they went to an open plot where they spotted the vehicle with three occupants inside.
“When the suspects noticed the police vehicle, they jumped out of the blue Ford Laser and started to run. K9, Yady, was immediately released and she managed to apprehend one suspect,” Swart said.
The other two suspects managed to evade arrest.
Swart said the Ford Laser had been stolen the same evening in Motherwell. She said when police searched the plot they found two more stolen vehicles.
The suspect is due to appear in the New Brighton magistrate's court on Tuesday.
