Justice minister issues stern warning to gangsters in PE.

Justice Minister Jeff Radebe has sounded a warning to gangsters in Port Elizabeth that gang violence will not be tolerated.

He was speaking at the opening of the newly renovated and extended Gelvandale Branch Court, handed to him today by the Deputy Minister of Public Works, Jeremy Cronin.

Radebe told the media that government has adopted a zero tolerance stance towards gangsterism and all forms of crime and corruption.

"This shows that justice is accessable to all our people including the people in this area. So I want to give a stern warning to all criminals that we will leave no stone unturned to uproot this scourge from South African society, including here in Port Elizabeth." he said

Meanwhile, the warning by the Justice Minister comes on the same day that three suspect gang members are appearing in the city's magistrate's court amid tight security.

Its understood that Wendell Petersen, Hans Jordaan and Graven Greeff, will be applying for bail.

Mount Road Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie is also in court as well as members of the police's crime intelligence unit.

Minister Radebe also called on the local community to rally behind a task team, established to deal with the scourge of gangsterism in PE's Northern Areas.

"The Task team is working very well and I understand that there are many court cases that are before courts that involve gangsterism" he added
