NWJ Jewellers at the Hemingways Mall in East London has been robbed of a substantial amount of Jewellery.
Police captain Mluleki Mbi says four robbers struck the store at around 09h30 on Saturday morning.
They held up staff and customers and smashed a display cabinet near the door with hammers before fleeing with several items of jewellery.
Captain Mbi says no shots were fired and the only slight injury was to a customer in the store who was cut by broken glass.
Hemingways management says the mall's security team gave chase and the police were called.
No firearms were used in the incident.
The Mall is currently working with police, who are reviewing the CCTV footage for their investigation. No arrests have yet been made.
