Jbay residents plan to fix the town

Residents of Jeffreys Bay will take to the streets on Friday in a show of solidarity and to signal to the rest of the country and the world that they will not let the seaside resort slide.

Holidaymakers abandoned the town in their droves in December when the power went out for three days, telephone lines were out of action and businesses and other services had to shut their doors because of the black-out.

The situation sparked fears that the visitors will reconsider Jeffreys Bay as a holiday destination.

Gerhard Fouche', a local resident, started up a Facebook page and also planned the March for 100 Reasons.

He said they have three objectives with the march.

"We want to tell our potential holiday makers to come back to Jeffreys because we together with the municipality will be fixing the area and fixing the town. We want to say to potential investors to also re-consider their options after what they saw here in December and prior. It's a question of showing the world that we as residents will not lay down, that we love our area and we love our Jbay and that we will fix this place for all to have a lovely life here." says Fouche'
