The Ironman 4 the Kidz Charity trust aims to raise R1.6m this year for less fortunate children in the Eastern Cape.
The charity trust, which is in its 9th year, forms part of the Spec-savers Ironman South Africa World Endurance Event which takes place in April.
The trust assists children from dysfunctional family backgrounds in areas of education, counseling, sport advancement and the maintenance of 12 childrens' homes.
One of the founder's of the charity trust, Garth Wright, says the upliftment of children is important for the future and there are many ways in which the community and corporates can get involved.
"The easiest way for small businesses to get involved is to do a pledge. Go online or go into the Ironman website itself and from that you can do a pledge to us. The other way is go on to the Vodacom SMS line to track athletes, that's an amazing way to give money back," he said.
