Investigations are underway, after a devastating fire in the Kurland Village informal settlement outside Plettenberg Bay left 120 people homeless.
Members of 35 families have taken shelter at the settlement's community hall, where they are receiving three meals a day and clothing from donors.
Police say the cause of the blaze is not yet known, although some of the destitute believe it may have been arson.
Manager of the community centre, Callin Koopman said he had received reports from residents that a man was seen pouring petrol at the scene.
