Humansdorp police have opened an inquest docket following the recovery of Johan Van Huyssteen's body on his family's farm in the Kareedouw district.
Sergeant Majola Nkohli says rescue efforts by police divers took about half an hour on Tuesday morning.
The body was found after a rescue team was lowered from an SANDF helicopter down the side of a waterfall on the farm.
The 22- year-old slipped and plunged 60 meters down a cliff on Monday afternoon.
