The innocent bystander who died in a hail of bullets in Perridgevale in Gqeberha on Good Friday has been identified as 28-year-old Fortune Nyathi.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said he was identified by a relative on Wednesday.

According to Nyathi's family, he was on his way to Gauteng before the fatal shooting on Friday.

He was one of three people who died when gunmen allegedly targeted a man and a women outside a bus ticket office.

They were identified as 21-year-old Davedene Van Zyl and 36-year-old Johannes Bruintjies.

Meanwhile, Naidu said two suspects aged 29 and 36 who were subsequently arrested for the alleged hit appeared in court on Tuesday.

She said Neaven Du Preez and Jody Enrico Cloete were arrested following a high-speed chase involving a silver-grey Honda Civic seen driving away from the crime scene.

Naidu said the vehicle with five occupants crashed into a lamppost in Neave Street in Shauderville after being chased by police.

The suspects then scattered in different directions and anti-gang united members, assisted by Mount Road police, managed to arrest Du Preez and Cloete in Peddie Street in Korsten.

They will make another appearance in court on the 14th of April.

The search for the other suspects continues.
