The so-called Modimolle Monster, Johan Kotze, and his three co-accused will spend their first night in jail this evening since being convicted.
The four were jailed for life on Wednesday for the brutal attack on Kotze's former wife Ina Bonette and the murder of her son, Conrad.
Judge Bert Bam convicted Kotze and Andries Sithole on a charge of murdering 19-year-old Conrad Bonette, which he described as senseless.
He also convicted Kotze, Sithole as well as Pieta Mohlake and Sello Mphaka, on charges of kidnapping and four counts related to the rape of Bonette in January last year.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Bonnette said they deserved the sentences.
She told the media afterwards that this was the beginning of something new for her, adding that the pain and humiliation will only be healed over time.
Meanwhile, Lulu Xingwana, the Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, also welcomed the sentences.
She thanked the police, the National Prosecuting Authority and Judge Bam for the hard that went into ensuring that justice has been served in the matter.
