The community of Mossel Bay apprehended a suspect yesterday and handed him over to police following an armed robbery on Diaz Beach.
A woman was attacked with a knife before her handbag was stolen.
Our Correspondent Louise Karsten says yesterday's incident is on of many over the last few months.
"The woman who is from Great Break River was held with a knife after which the suspect attacked her and grabbed her handbag. Motorists who saw this happening stopped and started chasing the man.
He was caught and handed over to the police. The woman received her belongings back" she said
Spokesperson for the Da Gamaskop Police Station, Captain Wollie Fourie said although Diaz Beach looks idyllic it is has actually become unsafe. The man remains in custody and will appear in court on Monday.
