The SA Weather Service says during the next few days, an extreme, late winter weather system will develop, which will mostly affect the southern and eastern parts of the country.Spokesperson for the PE branch of the Weather Service, Garth Sampson says areas likely to be most affected, include the higher ground and mountainous regions of the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal as well as the eastern and north-eastern parts of Lesotho.
He says significant and disruptive snowfalls can be expected between Sunday and Tuesday."Cloudy cold conditions are starting to set in and will persist until Tuesday next week. It will start with showery cold conditions from Saturday.
By Sunday it will be very cold over the entire region with snowfalls over the high ground. Heavy falls of snow are expected over the Drakensburg region and by Monday widespread showers are expected over the Eastern Half of the Eastern Cape (East Of East London)."
