Police in George are investigating a possible murder/suicide after a couple was found dead in their home in Fairway Crescent, George on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says Conville police have opened up a murder and inquest docket.
A 59-year-old man and his 61-year-old wife were last seen alive by their son on Thursday afternoon.
Captain Pojie says it is alleged that when the son returned home just after 7 pm he discovered their bodies.
He says both his parents were found in their bedroom with gunshot wounds to the head.
A firearm was also found on the scene and will be taken for ballistic testing.
Captain Pojie says the bodies were removed by Forensic Pathology and autopsies will be conducted on Friday.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
The names of the deceased have not been released.
