Three suspects held up staff and customers at a cellphone shop at The Bridge Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth on Sunday morning and fled with a large number of cellphones worth thousands of rands.
Police Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the men were armed with firearms and entered the store around 10 am.
There were four customers and six employees inside the store at the time..
They were forced to the back of the shop where the suspects demanded safe keys.
The storage cage where the cell phones are kept was open and Janse Van Rensburg says the suspects fled with approximately 230 cellphones.
At this stage, its not clear if a getaway vehicle was waiting for the robbers once they left the entrance to the mall.
No one injured and no shots fired.
