Humansdorp police have arrested a man for the illegal possession of drugs at the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli says officers were on routine patrols in the Vaaldam area at the town on Saturday afternoon, when they spotted a suspicious man walking in the street with a plastic bag in his hand.
He says when the man saw the police vehicle, he started running and threw the bag away.
The police gave chase and caught him after a short distance.
Nkohli says police found tik, dagga, and 95 Mandrax tablets with a total value of more than R13 000 inside the bag.
The 35-year-old suspect was arrested and is due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of the illegal possession of drugs.
