A Humansdorp businessman and grandfather has pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the 58 year old man appeared in court today where was convicted of sexually assaulting his two young granddaughters, aged four and seven.
She says the children moved to Humansdorp from Gauteng with their parents about 11 months ago.
Naidu says the children reported the sexual abuse to their mother just before Christmas and the matter was investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
She says the suspect was arrested on Monday.
He was released on bail of R5,000 and will be sentenced in March.
