The Minister of Human Settlements, Mmamoloko Kubayi has issued a strong warning to all implementing agents and contractors working on human settlements projects across the country, that the days of poor delivery without consequences are coming to an end.
This follows her inspection of some projects in the Eastern Cape, some of which have been running for years without completion and others abandoned leaving poor and indigent potential beneficiaries without a shelter over their heads.
Kubayi also urged provinces that those contractors who are delivering should be paid within 30 days to accelerate housing delivery in the country.
The Minister concluded a two-day visit to Buffalo City on Friday to assess housing delivery in the province.
She visited a number of human settlements projects, including in Duncan Village, Komga, Potsdam Village and three destitute families in the Amathole and Buffalo City Municipalities.
