A Gqeberha non-profit organisation for people living with disabilities has been left devastated by the aftermath of a break-in at their premises on Wednesday.

Cheshire Homes Manager, Hillary Bolton, said the incident occurred at the children’s division of the Cleary Park branch in the city's Northern Areas.

Bolton said the Happy Feet school's fence and the door were broken down while the month's food supply worth at least R2 000 was also stolen as well as toys.

"Our microwave oven was damaged and the television set which the children watch TV on was also stolen,", she said.

She said thankfully the nightshift staff was not on the school premises during the incident and no one was injured.

"A sense of fear was however created amongst our adult residents who live at the home, they all are severely disabled and so it’s very frightening when your personal space is being violated," Bolton said.

Meanwhile, police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, said a case of housebreaking was being investigated and no arrests have yet been made.

He said the total value of the goods stolen is R20 000.

Anyone who can donate in the form of food or money can contact Hillary Bolton at 082 789 4302.
