A foreign national will be appearing in court in Cradock soon after being arrested for the possession of a thousand Mandrax tablets and 201 grams of tik.
Captain Lariane Jonker says members from the Cradock Crime Prevention unit were patrolling in the CBD area on Wednesday when they noticed a suspicious looking person sitting at the Middelburg hiking spot, with a large bag.
They searched the man and found R17 000 in cash hidden in a compartment at the bottom of the bag.
He told police the money was from a buyer from out of Cradock to buy drugs that would be delivered in Cradock.
Captain Jonker says the police members then followed-up on the information and found the seller in possession of the mandrax tablets and the tik.
The 37-year-old foreign national was arrested on the spot for dealing in drugs.
The man searched at the hiking spot was not arrested but the money in his possession was confiscated and is being kept as evidence in the matter.
