Hit and run claims two lives in the Eastern Cape


A four year old boy was killed in a hit and run accident in Bloemendal, Port Elizabeth on Saturday night.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the child and his mother were on their way back from a funeral and were getting into a taxi when a Blue Jumbo Golf, travelling at high speed collided with the child.

The four-year-old Orlando Du Plessis from Bethelsdorp was dragged for a few meters before the vehicle sped off.

According to eye witnesses there were two men and a woman in the car.Police are appealing for any information that might lead to the suspects.

Meanwhile a 40-year-old man was also killed in a hit and run on Saturday night.Police says the man was walking across the N2 near the Ndabakazi village at about 7pm when he was hit.He died at the scene.
