Two suspects were arrested for vehicle hijacking soon after the case was reported at the Kabega Park police station, Port Elizabeth, on Tuesday night.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said in a statement that the 22 year old complainant was hijacked in Kwanobuhle in Uitenhage after offering the 22-year-old and 25-year-old suspects a lift.
Naidu said they threatened him with a firearm and a knife before shoving him into the boot of his car.
She said the complainant managed to escape while they were driving on the Rocklands Road and he reported the incident at the Rocklands satellite station.
Naidu said Kabega police found the abandoned vehicle on the side of road on the N2 and the suspects were spotted walking towards the abandoned car with a can of petrol.
She says the two were also found in possession of the complainants cellphones.
The two men are expected to appear in court on Friday.
