Port Alfred police are investigating an alleged truck hijacking after a stolen truck was found abandoned on the R72.
Police Spokesperson Captain Mali Govender says K9 members received information about a hijacking and immediately drove along the road in the direction towards Port Elizabeth.
She says police eventually spotted the truck standing on the Kariega Bridge where members found it to be empty.
It is alleged that the driver and his passenger were on their way to deliver goods when they were hijacked. They both told police that they were transported separately to Port Elizabeth.
The owner of the truck brought the driver to Kenton on Sea where a case of hijacking was opened for investigation.
Captain Govender says some of the stolen goods and equipment were recovered on a farm along the R343 Salem Road near Grahamstown.
