Heavy rain in EC claims second life

The Heavy rains that hit parts of the Eastern Cape since Monday have claimed another life.

A Spokesperson for the Alfred Nzo District Municipality Lubabalo Majenge says the body of a 39-year-old woman was found near the river at her village in Mbizana.

On Tuesday a 12-year-old girl drowned when she tried crossing an overflowing bridge in KwaBhaca (Mount Frere).

The rain, which is expected to continue until Thursday, caused localised flooding, washed away bridges and flooded many rural roads across the district.

Executive Mayor Sixolile Mehlomakhulu expressed his deepest condolences with the two families and urged residents in the area to stay calm.
