The Hawks in the Eastern Cape said a specialised kidnapping task team is investigating two kidnappings in Nelson Mandela Bay this weekend.
Spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Avele Fumba said the one incident occurred in Sidwell on Saturday where a businessman was kidnapped, with the second incident reported in Korsten on Sunday.
“In Sidwell five armed suspects were involved, using a black BMW with unknown registration plates. In Korsten, four armed suspects used a white Volkswagen Polo to commit the crime,” Fumba added.
He said due to the sensitive nature of these ongoing investigations, we are unable to disclose further details at this stage. However, our primary concern remains the safety and well-being of the victims.
He said the specialised kidnapping task team is actively pursuing all leads.
“We urge anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward. All information will be handled with the utmost confidentiality,” Fumba said.
