Port Elizabeth police are appealing to schools not to keep large sums of money on their premises following an armed robbery at the Harvest Christian School in Walmer on Wednesday.
Colonel, Priscilla Naidu said two suspects entered the admin block of the school under the pretense that they were there to make a payment.
Colonel Naidu said they held the two receptionists at gun point and a third suspect then forced the cashier to open the safe - also at gunpoint.
The men fled the scene in a light green Toyota Tazz with a substantial amount of money
No injuries were sustained and no school children were present at the time as the incident happened in the administration area.
Colonel Naidu said all three suspects are still at large and anyone who sees the vehicle, or has any information on the robbery, is asked to contact Warrant Officer Baxter at the Walmer Police Station or call 041 58 11 486.
