Eastern Cape police are investigating whether firearms seized from the scene of a dramatic shoot-out in Engcobo could be linked to other crimes in the area.
Two suspected robbers and a resident were killed when five men robbed the Clarkebury Post Office of an undisclosed sum of money on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, says a local resident was killed when a group of people chased after the robbers.
He says three of the robbers fled in a car while two others fled on foot.
Fatyela says when police arrived on the scene a shoot-out ensued between them and the two robbers, who were subsequently killed.
The get-away was found abandoned in Dutywa.
Fatyela says one suspect was arrested while the other two got away.
