Police in Gqeberha are investigating a case of business robbery after copper cables worth a million Rand were dug up from a substation in Struandale on Tuesday.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says two security guards on duty were held at gunpoint by three suspects during lunchtime.
She says the suspects travelled in a white LDV bakkie and wore reflector jackets.
Colonel Naidu says the men tied up the guards before being joined by five more suspects.
She says they then dug up the underground cables before loading it onto the bakkie.
No arrests have been made.
