Great Brak Pupils terrified as third learner found murdered

The community of Powertown near Little Brak River is meeting with police members tonight after another teenagers body was found on Monday near the residential area.

Fifteen-year-old Bonique Jansen is the third learner from the Great Brak Secondary School who, in the past few months, had been reported missing and later found murdered.

Police are following up on numerous leads that were found at the scene where the latest victim was found barely one kilometre from where she lived.

An autopsy must still be done to determine the cause of death. The girl was found fully clothed underneath bushes near Little Brak River, nine days after she was reported missing and only a few weeks after the body of the 17 year old Lesley Ann Maya was found in the same area.

The principal of the school, Mr Lloyd Petersen told Algoa FM News that his children are terrified and that the learners have become the target of crime. This afternoon residents in Powertown threatened to take the law into their own hands if police do not arrest a suspect in connection with the murders soon.

In February this year Algoa FM news reported on the first teenager who went missing from the same area.

The decomposed body of a young woman found in a bushy area in Great Brak River in 2014, has been confirmed as that of 15 year old Eloise Witbooi.

She was also a learner from the Great Brak Secondary School and celebrated her 15th birthday shortly before she went missing.
