Mount Road police detectives in Port Elizabeth are looking for the culprits who stole a 71-year-old statue off a gravestone at the North End cemetery recently.
The statue had been standing on top of the gravestone since 1947.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says when the family of the deceased person visited the gravesite in March 2017, the statue was still standing on top of the gravestone - but when they visited the site again on the 11th of March this year the statue was gone.
A case of theft is being investigated and anyone with information is asked to contact detective constable Hassan at the Mount Road Police Station.
