Grahamstown police have issued a warning to the public after a woman was conned by men posing as police officers.
They made off with cash and her cell phone.
Police say the 53-year-old woman was on her way to a bank on Friday, when 3 men introduced themselves as policemen.
They asked her to accompany them to a nearby police office to submit a statement, about her not being a witness to an alleged crime.
Upon entering a building, they told her to leave her cell phone and cash with them, and sent her inside to make a statement.
Once inside the building, she realised that there was no police office, and when she returned to the entrance, the cowmen had left with her possessions.
