A Grahamstown undertaker who is facing criminal prosecution for allegedly violating a corpse, will be back in court later this month.
Ronel Mostert, of Siyakubonga Funerals, appeared in court early in May where the matter was postponed to June 27th.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, told Algoa FM News that a case had been opened in October last year, following the exhumation of the body of 31-year-old Thamsanqa Tshali.
She says its alleged that because Tshali was too tall to fit into a coffin, workers at the funeral parlour had been instructed by Mostert to cut off his legs.
The story emerged when the workers reported the matter to police, allegedly following a wage dispute with their employer.
Govender says Tshali's body was exhumed after the complaint was laid.
